Seedling from a 2001 cross of E.S. 10-18-06 x Regent Selected in 2007



•Berry 2.5g; cluster 120-180g; thick skins
•Winter injured in Hugo, MN at temperatures colder than  -28C;  suitable for U.S. Hardiness Zone 5 or milder
•Neat moderate growth habit, few laterals
•Good resistance to diseases and no splitting or rot; extremely thick skins
•Ripens mid Sept. in 2386-2600 DDF, with good parameters: 24 Brix,  pH = 3.5,  TA < 0.8%
•Abundant soft tannins; very thick skins are loaded with  polyphenols.  Over two seasons of tests at NDSU (2012  and 2013) ranked first  out of 20 cold climate grape  varieties in skin tannin content.
•First test wines have been soft and phenolic with good  balance and finish, and flavors of plum and dried fruit.    No  native or hybrid flavors in the  
wine.
Certified virus free under 2010 protocol at Foundation Plant Service, UC-Davis where it grows in their Russell Ranch mother block collection.
